GOP: No new taxes to pay for Katrina! (er, but maybe Rita)

"We do not have to raise taxes" to finance the recovery from Katrina, said Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas. "We do not have to pass debt onto our children."

Oh . . . really?

The National Debt today:

The estimated population of the United States is 297,233,132 so each citizen's share of this debt is $26,675.16. The National Debt has continued to increase an average of $1.54 billion per day since September 30, 2004.

Thanks guys!
